ネットのもろさを露呈させた、大手通信事業者間の接続遮断

今回の件で問題となっているのは、「ピアリング」と呼ばれるタイプのネットワーク接続だ。
これにより、たとえばCogentの顧客がLevel 3のホスティングするウェブサイトにアクセスしようとした場合に、最短／最速の経路でデータをやりとりすることが可能となり、インターネット上を遠回りする必要がなくなる。

ピアが切れたからって接続できなくなるってことは、経路の冗長化がなっていないってこと？

マイクロソフト：「Linux版Officeのリリースは当分ない」
Linux Desktopが浸透しない原因の１つに協力なOffice代替製品が無い事が原因だと思います。
Office for Linuxがリリースされると、それこそOSの地殻変動が起こると思う。

米特許商標庁、マイクロソフトのFATファイルシステム特許を認めず
まだ争う余地があるらしいのですが、もうそろそろ特許問題にはうんざりですね。

マイクロソフトとモトローラ、緊急サービス分野で提携
文句はないのだが、せめてブルースクリーンが表示される様なサービスはしてくれるな。

  1. 暇なんでフルルートをちょっと調べてみました（笑

    Level3(AS3356)からCogent(AS174)向けのルーティングは間にVerio(AS2914)を経由して成立してる。問題無し。

    でも、CogentからLevel3向けのルーティングは両者間がピアリングできてた時（直接接続）のまま。これが通信できない原因。

    Cogent側eBGPルータが、Level3とピアリングしてた時のままの経路を広報してるように見える。
    さっさとピア直せって感じで意地になってるのかも（笑

    ちなみにボストン美術館のWebサイトはCogent配下。
    エンジニアのメンテ回線はLevel3配下なんでしょうね。
    とんだ災難だ…。

    嘘の経路を広報してるって意味ではCogentが悪い。
    でも、一方的に切ったLevel3もどうかなーと。

    あーでもBGPはかなり勉強不足なので自信無いかも（汗
    たまに東京から来る「目からビーム」の人に聞いたら嬉しそうに解説してくれそうですよね（笑
